Share your thoughts as we plan for the future of mobility in Huntington Beach
The City of Huntington Beach is planning for the future to enhance access and mobility with “HB In Motion” – the Huntington Beach Mobility Plan. This focus includes the portion of the Beach Path the City is responsible for, as well as the citywide bicycle and pedestrian networks.
Project Goals
Improve citywide bicycle and pedestrian network options and safety for all users
Improve the comfort and design of the Beach Path for all users
Plan for an innovative transportation system (micromobility and shared mobility)
Build upon the City’s long term mobility pedestrian, bicycle, and transit planning efforts
Beach Path
The Beach Path, from Beach Boulevard to Seapoint Street, is an off-street shared-use path that allows a mix of pedestrian and bicycle traffic. HB In Motion explores policies and regulations regarding emerging mobility (such as dockless scooters) on the Beach Path, as well as the recent boom in electric bicycles, to ensure that the Beach Path remains safe and teeming with activity. Further, the City is currently working on widening the Beach Path between 11th Street and Seapoint Street to provide better separation between bicyclists and pedestrians.
Bicycle Network
The bicycle network in HB includes the City’s on-street bicycle lanes, off-street paths, and intersections (for example, special push buttons for bicycles). HB In Motion will explore policies and programming that will enhance the safety of bicycle riders, while promoting bicycling as a healthier and cleaner option.
Pedestrian Network
The pedestrian network in HB includes the City’s sidewalks, paths, and crossings at intersections. Pedestrians also include people who use wheelchairs and other mobility aid devices to move around their communities. HB In Motion will explore policies and infrastructure that will make pedestrian activity safer and more accessible in the City.
